Prostitution thrives in Singapore – 23 Nov 08

Published by admin at 5:47 pm under singapore

Singapore is one of Asia’s wealthiest economies, attracting migrant workers from across the region. But many of those workers are women who are forced to work in the sex trade due to growing poverty caused by the global economic downturn. Al Jazeera’s Tony Birtley reports.

I guess Geylang is almost swiped clean of prostitutes. But I heard news from my friends that there are girls from China appearing at Geylang offering again. Other nationalities spotted at GoldenMile. I have never been there so late at night, so I’m not sure whether this is ture or not. Best to avoid them at this places.

What stupid propaganda is this? As usual these news station has nothing to report on and must insult just to speak. I’m a Singaporean and i know full well that these girls are mainly from China, Vietnam, Phillipine to make quick bucks for themselves due to the economical restrains in their own country. Most of them know full well what they are here for and do it willingly in the name of money.

there isn’t slavery in singapore, the women/girls who become prostitutes are the ones who chose to take the easy way out. the police do raid geylang.

those who become “high class” prostitutes obviously dont go there to get picked up or to get a room, their clients can afford way better. in the first place, singapore never had such a huge sex industry, so i dont see why aljazeera should blow this up. every country has a small part of it, no matter how religious the country is.
